Maranta Green Prayer Plant Care Tips
Is the maranta a beginner-friendly houseplant?
Marantas, aka prayer plants, often carry a reputation of being finicky houseplants and can be intimidating the beginner plant collector. While I often joke on my accounts about them being “dramatic,” one thing I appreciate about their drama is it makes it very easy to tell when their needs are not being met. For example, their leaves begin to curl when they are thirsty, and they brown easily when there is any sort of imbalance in their soil or water. On the flip side, they flourish quite rapidly when they are happy, and it is rewarding to watch a happy maranta open and close its leaves at the start and end of each day in sync with the sunlight.
